I went to school today and took pictures of my library to get prepared for Monday's assignment. Thought I'd throw them out there for any design ideas. I have many ideas of my own, but it would be great to hear other opinions!
Are there any computers that allow for small group work. The lab computers are pretty close together (which is typical)?
Are the more of the 4-top computing areas shown in the top picture? Something that I'm sure you can't do anything about is how much space that unit takes. That is my first thought -- if flexibility is key then the big units really limit your options.
No, there are basically no small group areas anywhere! And the 4-top is just the one LARGE island. It has been requested to be removed, and smaller stations built at the end of the bookcases, but we have 1 district maintenance person so it's not likely to happen for a while.
It looks like your library is new.

ReplyDeleteI thought that might be the case after reading your re-design.
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart that it was probably pretty expensive and someone thought they were really doing something first class.
